Toby Rzepka, Luthier
Toby Rzepka began making string instruments in 2001 after studying
with Walter Stanul at Boston's School of the Museum of Fine Arts. He
went on to apprentice and work for master guitar maker Stephan Connor
on Cape Cod, helping build Connor Guitars' early portal and
raised-fingerboard models alongside traditional Spanish style
instruments.
After assistant teaching the SMFA's Guitar and Dulcimer making course,
Toby spent two years in England studying Baroque and Renaissance
lutherie under Roger Rose at West Dean College, earning a distinction
in addition to the College's President's Prize in 2008. He is now
located in Portland, Maine.
